Drunk on Spring in Chang’an

In her previous life, Liu Chang’an was a maid in the Duke of Ning’s household, but her mistress accused her of theft and ruined her face. Only after her family was destroyed did she learn the truth: she was the Duke of Ning’s true daughter. The fake daughter, Liu Qingru, and her concubine mother had stolen her life and ruined everything. Her birth father, grandmother, and brothers treated her like dirt and cherished the fake daughter like the apple of their eye, raising her to become the Crown Princess. Meanwhile, Liu Chang’an, who had once been a maid and brought shame upon the duke’s household, was forced to become a nun before slitting her own throat, her body never found. Reborn, Liu Chang’an plans her every move. She casts off her grandmother: “If you don’t love me, I won’t love you.” She abandons her birth father: “Your title will be stripped and your estate confiscated. Off to exile with you.” She saves her mother: “Father kept a mistress and switched your son.” She rejects her brothers: she tears off their ugly masks with her own hands and makes them despised by all. When the truth about the real and fake daughters comes out, the whole household regrets everything and weeps as they beg her forgiveness. Liu Chang’an: “Belated family affection is worth less than paper. Go die somewhere else, and don’t dirty the road to my door.” She turns away and becomes the daughter of the Duke of Cheng’en, then marries the Crown Prince. Xiao Chuo, the Crown Prince, is volatile and has killed countless people. His favorite thing is to hold Liu Chang’an and say, “A splendid and prosperous Chang’an, that is what I love.”
