The Darling of Bianjing

That day, a heavy snow fell. Snowflakes drifted through the air and landed inside Xuanwu Gate, where the ground was soaked in blood, slowly turning to bloodied slush. Cheng Rujin looked at the bloody slush beneath Xuanwu Gate, then raised her head to watch the feather-like snow falling from the sky. She suddenly charged forward and leaped from the city wall. Using the last drop of blood in her body, she swore to the heavens: “Bodhisattvas fear causes, while ordinary beings fear consequences. You are unworthy of your position, and you will reap what you have sown. I, Cheng Rujin, am willing to curse you with a lifetime of loneliness, in every life to come. May your guts be torn apart and your bowels rot, and may you never be reborn!”
