Famine in a Chaotic Age: Hunting in the Mountains, My Granary Is Full

After waking from a deep sleep, Zhou Lin discovered that he had transmigrated to the Great Cheng Dynasty.

Unfortunately, the original owner had been a complete disgrace, stealing the money his family had earned selling their New Year pig to drink and feast with his buddies.

As a result, the family had barely enough to eat, and creditors were already at their door demanding repayment.

Luckily, at the crucial moment, Zhou Lin awakened a Search System.

By searching for a designated target, he could obtain all its information.

“What? There’s a pheasant with an injured wing on Wolfhead Mountain?”

“Mine now.”

While other families ate millet porridge with pickles, I got to enjoy a steaming bowl of chicken soup.

“What? There’s a nanny goat with a broken leg on Tigerhead Mountain?”

“Mine now.”

In these chaotic times of famine, others could barely fill their stomachs, while I had more goat’s milk than I could drink. Life was good.

“What? There’s a hundred-year-old ginseng plant on the North Slope that nobody’s picked?”

“Then that’s mine, too.”

Just then, a high-ranking official arrived in the county, suffering from a sudden illness that required a hundred-year-old ginseng root as medicine. I sold it on the spot for a hundred taels of silver.

While everyone else struggled more and more through the famine, my family’s storeroom was packed with meat and vegetables, we had more money than we could spend, and I had a beautiful wife.

Then suddenly, beacons of war flared across the land. With grain and silver in abundance, it seemed I could make a real difference.
