Immortality Begins as a Clerk in the Execution Chamber

In the year 432 of the Great Jin calendar, demons roam by night, and immortals and mortals are cut off from one another.

This is a world that devours people. The weak are no better than ants, while the strong make the rules.

Gu An was born into humble circumstances. To stay alive, he took a lowly job as a clerk in the torture chamber of Yong'an County Office.

He had planned to tread carefully and make it through his life, but on a rainy night, he snatched a "Nine-Hole Stone Clasp" from the corpse of a condemned prisoner.

From that moment on, the road to greatness lay open before him.

The cultivation bottlenecks that others feared were, for him, as effortless as breathing.

The pure magical power that others spent their lives pursuing was, for him, simply the natural reward of diligent cultivation day and night.

Gu An often said that there were three taboos in cultivating immortality:

Never draw attention to yourself, never leave survivors, and never flaunt your wealth.

In the eyes of his colleagues, he was an honest, meek nobody who took whatever life handed him.

But in the darkness, he was the most patient of hunters, a venomous snake lurking in the mud.

If he did nothing, he was as still as an ancient well.

But when he struck, it was with the force of thunder, crushing his foes to dust.

"My name is Gu An."

"I don't ask for a peaceful life in this world. I only hope my enemies are laid to rest soon."
