The story begins with Kangxi's clear foresight on "whether the Qing Dynasty can last for a long time" - he realized that the dynasty would eventually decline based on existing systems and experience alone. For this reason, Kangxi made a secret plan and ordered the third prince Yinzhi to lead an interdisciplinary team to go to Western countries to systematically study science, systems and governance. On this historical line, Yinzhi will form ideological and institutional intersections and tensions with the fourth prince Yinzhen (the Yongzheng Emperor in real history) who upholds traditional legal systems, symbolizes order and execution; at the same time, the prince's loss of control, the eight princes' schemes, and the calculations of the princes and important ministers still run parallel and collide with the hidden lines of real history. The work takes "If Kangxi had seen the ending in advance" as the starting point to reconstruct the alternative path.
