Qingliu Ferry: the Floating Bridge Reflects the Original Intention

During the Kangxi period, the former prince Zhu Cizhen hid his name in Wuyi Town in the south of the Yangtze River under the name of "Zhu Puxian" and transformed into a gentle teacher. The Qingliu River ferry tragedy caused by a heavy rain made him witness the pain of people drowning, and he resolutely vowed to build a bridge. In order to raise funds and materials, he went to Jinling to ask for help from Cao Yin, a weaver in Jiangning. He impressed the powerful with his sincerity and gathered the people of the town to build a pontoon bridge across the two sides of the strait through cold and summer weather. On the way to build the bridge, he met and got to know Huansha, who was skilled in embroidery, gentle and tough, but he dared not respond to his affection because he was carrying the secret of the legacy of the previous dynasty. The completion of the floating bridge not only connected the land on both sides of the Qingliu River, but also attracted the pursuit of the imperial guards. A crisis surrounding identity and innocence suddenly came. From confrontation in court, imprisonment to late-night rescue, life and death dependence, Zhu Puxian and Huansha fell in love by the bridge in a desperate situation. Cao Yin's generous help allowed this act of protecting the people to continue. As time goes by, the pontoon bridge has become the spiritual totem of Wuyi Town. Zhu Puxian and Huansha's children inherited their parents' aspirations, used craftsman skills to protect the bridge, conveyed their feelings with lotus embroidery, and passed down the belief that "when people are united, the bridge will be stable" from generation to generation. For hundreds of years, Puxian Bridge has stood firm despite the storms, witnessing the prosperity of commerce and the peaceful living of the people. It has also deposited a perseverance that transcends dynasties and has nothing to do with power - protecting the people with original intention and passing down the legacy with goodwill. This is the most touching legend of Qingliudu.
