I Evolve by Devouring the Unlucky

My name is Jiang Mo, and I'm a failure who can't form a contract.

This world is full of strange beings: arrogant nobles, greedy witches, ghouls with peculiar appetites, and more.

They're called omens of doom, yet they can grant humans power by making them Sequences.

If I want to survive, I have to succeed!

But none of them would answer me, until I came across a sheet of human skin...

My name is Bai Shi, and I'm an ominous anomaly.

Unlike the anomalies that have lived in this world all along, I had only just broken free from a ten-thousand-year seal when some fool came along and swallowed me.

If I want to survive, I have to help him grow.

It's only a matter of enduring a few more decades.

But why is this kid even more brazen than I am?

The world is falling apart. Unknown horrors are being born among the people, and the lands where people can survive are steadily shrinking.

Some pray, some live in fear, and some revel in the apocalypse.

Years later, people rebuilding after the disaster find a cassette tape in the ruins.

Static... static...

“You mean you never wanted to become an ability user at all?”

“That's right. If I could start over, I'd choose to become a full-fledged anomaly...”
