I'm Fan Jin, and If I Fail the Imperial Exam Again, I'll Be Crowned Emperor

After transmigrating into the young Fan Jin, he learns that as soon as he passes the imperial examination, he can return to modern times, enjoy wealth and glory, and live forever.

Passing the exam isn't the same as coming first, so how hard can it be?

He fails to place on his first try, and takes a crushing blow.

Resolutely, he decides to join Yan Song's faction.

“Grand Secretary Yan, I have just one small request: help me pass the exam.”

“What? The Yan faction has fallen? And I'm the main culprit?”

He has no choice but to join the upright officials and become Xu Jie's student.

“Grand Secretary Xu, your student hasn't even passed the provincial exam. I'm an embarrassment to you. I want to try again.”

“What? You failed again?”

Xu Jie: “Fan Jin, join the Grand Secretariat.”

Fan Jin: “I haven't even passed the provincial exam. How can I join the Grand Secretariat?”

The upright officials are no help. He can only rely on the Wanli Emperor.

“Your Majesty, I didn't pass the metropolitan exam. I want to try again.”

“Still didn't pass? Who graded my paper?”

Jiajing: “Fan Jin is appointed Grand Secretary of the Grand Secretariat.”

Years later...

With young Wanli by his side, he snarls, “Your Majesty, I want to try the imperial exam again. If I still don't pass, I'll give your mother a harsh punishment tonight.”

Fan Jin: “Three years, then another three. I only want to pass the provincial exam. Is that really so hard?”

The ministers: “Grand Secretary Fan, it's cold. Put on another layer.”
