The House Immortal Affairs Office

Chen Ping’an is a graduate student in folklore, and there’s one thing he’s never believed in: ghosts and gods.

That is, until he inherits an old house and catches a fox spirit playing Honor of Kings on his sofa in the middle of the night. Then it tosses him an employment contract from the “Household Spirits’ Administrative Office.”

From then on, his materialist worldview completely falls apart:

The Yellow Immortal works as a food-delivery guy, gathering intelligence. The White Immortal runs a traditional Chinese medicine clinic and secretly heals people with spirit needles. The Willow Immortal moonlights as an exorcist, while the Gray Immortal controls the financial network. And then there’s his fox-spirit partner, Hu Shiqi: sharp-tongued, haughty, and obsessed with gacha games, yet willing to shield him from a spirit-slaying cannon when their lives are on the line.

When the Spirit-Breaking Society aims its technological magical weapons at the city, and the shadow of a fallen Earth Immortal looms over the dragon veins, Chen Ping’an finally understands: his family’s shaman drum and his bloodline are the last keys to maintaining the balance of the world’s spiritual veins.

The fate of both the human world and the spirit realm rests in the hands of this “least devout” folklorist.
