Building Along the Silk Road

Meng Hua was a modern-day history and infrastructure enthusiast who unexpectedly transmigrated to an impoverished territory beside the ancient Silk Road, becoming a low-ranking lord. Burdened with an Infrastructure System, she was determined to develop her lands through Silk Road trade, but the old rules enforced by the surrounding gentry stood in her way at every turn. Fearing for their own interests, the old nobility obstructed her efforts to introduce new policies and develop infrastructure. The System issued a time-limited quest: she had to turn her territory into a major Silk Road hub in a short time, or face annihilation at the hands of invading outsiders. As she worked to develop the territory, Meng Hua confronted one difficult choice after another. She had to grow the local economy while upholding fairness and justice. Meanwhile, rumors and slander spread by the old nobility turned the people against her, and some wavering allies betrayed her for personal gain, setting the territory’s development back. But with practical, rational planning and the help of her allies, Meng Hua gradually overcame each crisis and broke through every obstacle. In the end, she transformed a barren territory into a prosperous land and became the architect of a new order, though she sacrificed some of her personal feelings along the way.
