1982: From Livestock Farmer to the Richest Man

Reborn in the rural southwest in 1982.

After three months of hauling sand at a reservoir, I made 82 yuan.

I was going to take the money home and marry the woman I loved.

But then I remembered the wife I’d had in my previous life, who’d stuck with me through thick and thin.

Forget it. This time, we’re better off going our separate ways.

So I took the money, got a loan from the bank, and raised enough to start a quail farm.

In his first year, Li Dongyong made 10,000 yuan.

He became the first ten-thousand-yuan household in the village!

The next year, he expanded the farm and brought in his parents and brothers.

He made his first fortune: 100,000 yuan.

By the third year, even the villagers who had once doubted him were following his lead and learning to raise quail.

Li Dongyong decided to quit farming quail himself and opened a feed factory, selling feed and quail chicks to others.

In his fifth year, he made his first 10 million yuan.

From then on, there was no stopping him. With a vision decades ahead of its time,

Li Dongyong became the richest man in the southwest.

And so his business empire began.
