After a Fairy Who Stole My Heart Fell on Me, I Won Without Trying

In the glorious age of the Tang Dynasty, the mortal realm is peaceful and thriving. But in the Heavenly Court, the seventh, eighth, and ninth fairies get tipsy at the Jade Emperor’s birthday banquet, their hearts stirred, and sneak down to earth: A gust of wind plays a trick as the graceful Ninth Fairy falls straight into a poor scholar’s arms; A yellow dog bolts past and a wealthy merchant comes rushing over: the delicate Eighth Fairy lands squarely on the merchant’s shoulder; A military general leaps into the air during his training, and the plump, curvaceous Seventh Fairy is knocked right into his arms! Three extraordinary romances between immortals and mortals begin amid laughter and tears. From then on, the scholar remains poor and lives in a shabby house, but his fairy can turn stones into gold; The merchant’s wives and concubines compete for his favor in the back courtyard, and the fairy’s magic becomes part of their battle for his affection. The general has it worst of all, as the Seventh Fairy can only lament, “This body… I truly can’t take any more!” As the three sisters whisper through gritted teeth, what clever tricks will they come up with to keep their husbands in line? Will their magic fail? Will tenderness be enough? See how this amusing clash between immortals and mortals plays out.
