Holding Jade, Bearing Virtue

Wen Jin, a soul from another world, unexpectedly transmigrates to an unknown, ancient world after a mission goes wrong and she dies taking her enemy down with her. Wen Jin originally plans to avenge the previous owner of her body and reclaim her mother's dowry. After that, she intends to marry the young man from her memories and live out her days in peace. But life is unpredictable, and fate has other plans. It pushes her step by step toward a powerful, ruthless man with a cruel streak. To survive and get her revenge, she has no choice but to dance with the devil, bargaining and negotiating with the dreaded living King of Hell. Once everything is settled, Wen Jin is ready to leave. But the man refuses to let her go. He corners Wen Jin against the wall, his eyes reddening as he pleads, “A Jin, this time I won't guard myself against you. I'll even willingly be the blade in your hand. But I beg you to scheme one more time, this time for my heart. What do you say?” At their first meeting, Pei Zhan is astonished by Wen Jin's extraordinary beauty, but her timid, rabbit-like nature, so easy to bully, fills him with disdain. A person can be beautiful, but without a soul, she's no more than a pretty vase. As he gets to know her, everything she does in person strikes him as fascinating. Perhaps she'd make an interesting pet. Then Wen Jin dies, and the pain feels like his heart is being ripped out. When he learns she only faked her death, relief outweighs his anger. Pei Zhan decides that once he captures that troublesome little fox, he will keep her locked away. He'll make sure she has nowhere else to go but his side. “A Jin, you’d better hide well. If I catch you, you’ll be punished.” In the darkness, Pei Zhan gazes ahead with tender focus, as if Wen Jin were standing right before him.
