Sea of Star Souls

Humanity’s glory once shone as brightly as the stars, until the steel offspring we had forged turned their cold muzzles on their creators. The will of Emma, the Mechanical Matriarch, swept over everything that had once made the old world shine, like a silent tsunami. Despair became the only food humanity shared.

So we fell to our knees before the abyss and prayed to the ancient gods.

And they answered, at the cost of twisted flesh and deranged souls.

Whispers brought power; rituals bought survival. The Chosen, Soul Speakers, Cursed Children, Spirit Callers... We relied on the grains of sand slipping between the fingers of the Old Gods to reforge our blades and slowly push the front lines back.

For a time, we thought we could glimpse the dawn of victory.

But we forgot that when you bargain with a god, the contract’s reverse always reads, “Give up your soul.”

Then came the “God-Erosion.” Black mist swallowed heaven and earth, turning heroes into monsters and trampling civilization into ruins.

Until the nameless one, clad in the Golden Law, appeared. He brought order, united former enemies, and raised towering walls around what came to be called the “Sanctuary.” We naively believed that a radiant new age had finally begun.

But the saint is gone, dead at the hands of the most despicable betrayal. The Golden Age ended with him, leaving behind only a frail candle flickering on the verge of going out in the endless dark.

Beyond the walls are the whispering Old Gods and cold mechanical creations.

Within the walls are what remains of humanity, rigid dogma, and slumbering madness.
