The Growth of a Cthulhu Superman

My name is Carl, and I’m an ordinary university student. My daily routine is going to class, working part-time, and carefully maintaining this world’s “normality.” In my eyes, the city has two faces. One is the sunny, orderly place my classmates see. The other is a world of tentacles writhing behind the walls and maddening whispers filling the air. Yesterday, my roommate excitedly showed me an ancient “eerie painting,” saying that if you stared at it for ten seconds, you’d discover a hidden image. He didn’t know that it wasn’t a hidden image at all. It was an eye from another dimension, slowly opening. Today, a beautiful girl confessed her feelings for me in front of a crowd. Her smile was sweet and her voice pleasant, but to my ears, they were mixed with countless overlapping, inhuman voices chanting in unison: “...Found you... the core... of the world...” A semi-original Lovecraftian world, with a little fan fiction added to the original Cthulhu mythos. That’s more or less the idea.
