Sen Bing is a high school student who exists like a breath of air in the corner of the classroom. Quiet and introverted, he’s learned to shut out the noise and indifference around him by drawing intricate gears and collecting dried plants. By chance, he stands up to stop a robbery at a general store. This unexpected act is like a pebble tossed into still water, disturbing the quiet life in which he was practically invisible. Rumors, curiosity, kindness, and malice come his way. His former bullies are still watching him, while threats in the shadows quietly draw closer. Caught between being seen and being isolated, and repeatedly torn between courage and fear, can this “gear,” once jammed in place, break free of the thorns and find its own rhythm?
