Great Tang: Commoner Li Er Pays Homage to Emperor Zetian

Lu Ming obtains the Historical Merit System, which lets him transmigrate across different eras. To his surprise, his first transmigration lands him right in front of Wu Zetian, who is about to ascend the throne. His looks are as handsome as Pan An's. Unfortunately, Wu Zetian takes a liking to him and wants to make him her male favorite. If Wu Meiniang were still young, Lu Ming might have put up a token resistance before giving in. But Wu Zetian is already sixty-six, with wrinkled skin and white hair, old enough to be his grandmother. After leaving her with a fierce promise that he would be back, Lu Ming brings this humiliating transmigration to an end. His second transmigration takes him to the Zhenguan era. The moment Lu Ming lays eyes on Li Er, a plan comes to mind. “Er Feng, do you know how later generations will praise you?” “The Heavenly Khan? An emperor for the ages? Governor of Asia? The strongest carbon-based life-form of the seventh century?” “Wrong, wrong, wrong!” “They'll say that father and son served the same emperor together, a tale celebrated for all time!” When Li Shimin arrives at Wu Zetian's enthronement ceremony with a whole contingent of his old Xuanwu Gate comrades, including Yuchi Jingde, Qin Qiong, Li Shiji, Cheng Yaojin, Changsun Wuji, and others, as well as members of the Li royal family such as Li Yuan, Li Chengqian, and Li Zhi, a familiar voice suddenly rings out beyond the Ying Tian Gate: “Your humble servant, Li Er, has come with his father Li Yuan, wife Changsun, and son Li Zhi to pay respects to Emperor Zetian!” As Wu Zetian falls to her knees below the steps, Lu Ming gives a scornful smile. “Wu Meiniang, I told you I'd be back!”
