Chen Shouyi's Memories of the Anti-Japanese War

The protagonist Chen Shouyi was born in rural Linyi, Shandong in 1918. He was originally an apprentice in a blacksmith shop. After the fall of his hometown in 1937, he joined the army and belonged to the 59th Army of the National Revolutionary Army (Zhang Zizhong's Division). Later, due to the dispersion of the army, he joined the Jizhong Military Region of the Eighth Route Army and grew from an ordinary soldier to a machine gun squad leader. He was discharged and returned to the field after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War in 1945. He died in 2005
