Ancient Town

At the end of the Northern Song Dynasty, the iron hoofs of the Jin soldiers shattered the peace of the Central Plains, and the people were displaced. Country squire Gu Chengshun moved south with two thousand fellow villagers and settled in a deserted ancient town, starting his journey to survive in troubled times. When they first arrived in the ancient town, plague, food shortages, and internal disagreements followed one after another. The Gu family and his son responded calmly: Gu Xiangren properly distributed housing and food, Gu Xiangtian drew a canal drawing to reclaim wasteland, and Zhou Zhencheng accepted them kindly, and Xiu Langzhong saved lives and injured people. Later, the Lu family brought hundreds of refugees to seek refuge. The two families abandoned their estrangement and jointly built docks to open trade routes and set up private schools to educate children, gradually bringing vitality to the ancient town. However, the shadow of the approaching Jin soldiers has never dissipated, and the arrival of General Zhao's troops has hidden variables. This work uses the rise and fall of the ancient town as a mirror, not only describing the ups and downs and tenacity of the people in troubled times, but also describing the glimmer of survival built by ordinary people through unity and responsibility when their family and country are in turmoil.
