Reborn in the 1980S, the Ungrateful Children All Kneel

A period rebirth story + feel-good fiction + family life + everyday moments + a touch of ensemble cast. Old Zhao worked hard all her life to raise four sons and three daughters. She put her sons through school, helped them marry and start families, and raised her grandchildren. The eldest son's family often took money from her shop. She paid for her second son to attend high school for three years, then sent him to the county seat to apprentice at a restaurant. She constantly cleaned up the messes made by her twin third and fourth sons, and arranged for the third son to marry into the Li family for the third time. She spent a great deal on her second daughter's art education, and sent her third daughter to university before helping her move to Shanghai to build a career. One by one, her children made good lives for themselves, then turned against their elderly parents. When her husband needed 20,000 yuan for surgery, the children couldn't scrape the money together and refused to treat him. He missed the window for surgery and died at home. Her eldest son drove her out of her house in town and sent her to live in a mountain shack in the countryside, leaving her to fend for herself! Less than two months later, she died on a rainy night. Not one of her children came to claim her body, and none of them could even make it back for her funeral. When she opened her eyes again, Old Zhao was fifty years old, on the day her estranged eldest daughter was getting married. At the time, she and her husband were still running their peanut oil shop, and their children were still dependent on them. Now that she knew how heartless her children could be, she angrily stood by the only daughter who would arrange her funeral and demanded that the others hand over money for household expenses! Reborn, Old Zhao had no maternal love to give. In her previous life, she couldn't even count on her children to claim her body. This time, she lorded it over her children and enjoyed life. What would she do when she got old? She'd enjoy the rest of her life. It was only natural to die sooner rather than later once she got old. Who could have guessed that after a lifetime of toil in her previous life, her children had failed to appreciate her, but this time, selfishly hoarding money and acting without a conscience, caring nothing for her children's welfare, she would actually live more comfortably, and her children would become filial too.
