The Taotie Feast

[Food + Case-solving] Du Jianwei, a cook who is already twenty-five, receives a reward from the prince's household for her service. With the money, she can return to her hometown, marry, buy a shop, and open an eatery. The good news: Her fiancé has been away at war for ten years and never returned, so she won't be sold off again to marry a widower. The bad news: Just as marriage arrangements are being discussed, news arrives that her fiancé is dead. With her gravely ill father-in-law and her mother-in-law unable to cope, they ask her eighteen-year-old scholar brother-in-law to honor the engagement and marry her. Seeing her father and brothers fighting over the silver she brought home, their faces red with anger, and trying to seize the deed to the eatery, Du Jianwei turns around without hesitation and agrees to marry into the Lu family. She thought that after marriage she'd have to do as the villagers said: care for her in-laws, bear children, and spend her whole life struggling to support her husband's studies. Instead, her mother-in-law cares for her father-in-law, she raises a daughter and a son, and her husband works hard to support her in opening a restaurant... It turns out her brother-in-law has been reborn. But when Du Jianwei begins to see spirits above the food she cooks, her peaceful life is shattered. Wrongful convictions and people who have strayed from the right path come one after another... The Gourmet Eatery can satisfy your appetite, but it will also bring out the seven emotions and six desires hidden in your heart... Please enjoy.
