I Recorded the Sound of Growing

I am a sound recordist, and I received a high-priced commission: to record sound samples of the city's underground pipe network. As I descended into the darkness of the sewers, I recorded a sound that shouldn't exist—a shriek similar to that of a crying baby. After returning home and playing back the recording, the strange sound actually "grew" in the file, evolving from a single tone to a multi-part chorus. It started interfering with my devices, crashing when deleting recordings, and automatically copying files to all electronic devices. What's even more terrifying is that a pipe image will appear in front of the person listening to the recording, as if some kind of creature is crawling towards them. When I discovered black mucus oozing from the inner wall of the water pipe, I finally understood: what I brought back was not sound, but a kind of living pollution. It is spreading through the veins of the city.
