The Allure of the Capital

[Radiant, glamorous actress x all-powerful Beijing big shot] The Lin family is the foremost clan in Beicheng. Lin Shiyue is gentle and polite, meticulous in everything he does. Raised from childhood to follow the strict standards expected of an heir, he is cool and distant. Everyone knows he had a first love who died young. But one day, a woman appeared at his side. Lin Shiyue was captivated the moment he met Wen Lan. She looked gentle and composed, yet her eyes were full of mischief as she gazed at him. She pressed herself onto his lap and asked, “Can I stay by your side?” Even then, he knew that everything before had been an act. … After they got together, Lin Shiyue doted on Wen Lan to the extreme. He took her to all sorts of galas and exhibitions, and bid astronomical sums on jewelry just to make her smile. But there was one thing he never did: acknowledge their relationship in public. Everyone thought Lin Shiyue was only playing around, and even Wen Lan thought so. Eventually, she left him at last, just as everyone had expected. But on a rainy night, he caught her and dragged her back. He held her captive at his side, gripping her chin and forcing her to look at him. “Didn't you say you'd stay by my side forever?”
