Vinegar Time

"Vinegar-Stained Time" takes a suburban courtyard as the stage and revolves around doctor Lin Yanzhi, painter Shen Zhixing and their adopted daughter Nian Nian, spreading the warmth of ordinary life in the passing of the four seasons. From making fig jam at the autumnal equinox, to pickling cured meats in the cold winter, and wrapping candied haws in the snow, there is a warmth of watching each other hidden in the daily chores: her scalpel meets his paintbrush, children's childish words string together the concerns of the neighborhood, and time is like a vinegar-soaked jar, sealing the astringency and sweetness. The annual rings grow quietly in the midst of picking fruits, picnicking, and staying up late, and eventually they come to a sentence: The so-called peaceful years are nothing more than having someone accompany you to wait for a pot of sauce to boil, watch the snow fall, and live your life in a way that hides the sweetness and sourness of warmth.
