Rebuilding Rome, Starting from the Defeat at the Battle of the Allia

I hope we won't make random advances in science and technology and reform indiscriminately. In Eastern Rome at the beginning of the 13th century, it would have been nice to be able to eat half of the capital. One generation does the same thing as the other. Like the one next door, it means the rise of Byzantium in 1444. Although it is an old eunuch and a lazy dog, the information is poor and slow, but there are still many advantages that can be borrowed. Take caution, don't randomly accept people from the Central Plains region like many articles about similar foreign novels. I read a lot of foreign historical novels, and it's obvious that the great powers were fighting for hegemony in the 19th century, but they still have to go to the Qing Dynasty to dig up the black technology of the Song, Yuan, and Ming Dynasties. I'm embarrassed 😰

It's not bad, but I don't want it to be like the one next door where the technology tree climbs up too abruptly. Without any metallurgical and iron-making scientific research foundation, it suddenly came out with guns in less than half a month. Potential readers should be biased towards research and do not require particularly rigorous research, but should not be too magical and they should easily give up.

First, the imperial officials are divided into three categories, namely the royal family (big nobles), senior central officials, and local officials. Let's first introduce the high-level titles surrounding the royal family, which are the so-called purple nobles: Basilius (βασίλεύς) means "king" in the classical period. This title was the supreme ruler of the Eastern Roman Empire, generally translated as "emperor", but it also means "general commander", who can mobilize the national army, that is, the person with the highest military power. Sebastokrator, Supreme/Chief Noble, the highest-ranking title under the emperor, invented by Alexios I, used for close branches of the royal family, de facto co-emperors and successors. In the late empire, Caesar was not used to represent co-emperors. In China, it can be almost the same as the prince plus the power of supervising the country. It is not necessarily permanent, and it does not have to be the son of the emperor, but may also be his brother. After all, Eastern Rome is a monogamous system. If there is no son, the brother will inherit. Panhypersebastos, the most noble, is an honorary title given to the nearby royal family. It has no fixed power, but is quite noble in the court. It can be regarded as the one-word prince level in China. The power depends on the emperor's favor, and is usually in a competitive relationship with the former. Caesar, Caesar, a close royal title, is slightly worse than the former. Generally speaking, it will supervise the military affairs of a certain aspect and region. It was the second-highest title before the 12th century, but became the third-level title after the Komnenos Dynasty. It can be regarded as a prince of a small country in ancient China. Usually not capable of inheriting the throne. Porohyrogennetos, born in the Purple House, this rank is basically available to anyone who is a direct relative of the royal family. They are potential successors to the emperor (with the right to inherit) but generally have no chance. They usually have little power, but they can lead the army. Despotes, autocratic monarch/despot prince, is the lowest title among the immediate branches of the royal family. It usually has the power of the autocratic party to manage military affairs, but has almost no qualifications to inherit the throne. It is similar to a Chinese prince, but with a fiefdom. Some foreigners who submit to them will also be granted this title. Nobelissimos, noble, is at the same level as the absolute monarch, but it is an honorary title. It is the highest military title. Most non-royal military titles reach the top here. Unless they become powerful ministers, they will become Despotes. It is a bit like the "Gong" in China. Generally speaking, it will be a military and political official of a party. Part 2 These officials are lower than the officials of the central competent authority, but they are also necessary and will be supplemented here. Magas konostablos is the title of mercenary leader and leader of foreign/foreign mercenaries. It should be noted that the Varangian Guard does not belong to this system, but belongs to the resident guard system and is under the control of the resident guard chief. Pinkernes, the cupbearer, is generally given to the emperor's cronies. It can be used to express favor or to grant gifts to foreign vassals. Kouropalates, court counts, are mostly used to reward vassal states. Their function in the court is a bit like the servants of the Han Dynasty, used to pass messages up and down. Parakolmomenos, the chief chamberlain, is the highest position of eunuchs. In the late empire, it was later divided into three official positions, but they were all the highest eunuchs, namely: tes sphendones, seal official tou kolton, sleeping official Domestikos tes trapezes, diner hogenikos Chancellor of the Exchequer, favoring matters such as coinage Protovestiarites, weaving, in charge of the silk trade, and procurement of royal clothes. Vestiarites, close to China's Shaofu, are in charge of the emperor's food and clothing expenses Magas papias, palace envoys, are a bit like Chinese doctors, with a large number of people, most of whom are given to nobles, and it is also a kind of honorary title. The Eastern Roman Empire had a mature central bureaucracy in the local area. Although it was destroyed by the feudal fief system (Pronian system) in the late empire, it was still much more complete than the Western kingdoms. Megas domestikos, generalissimo, is actually the commander-in-chief of the army. There are two positions. They are equal in status. Sometimes they also have the title of Nobelissimos and cannot be hereditary. It should be noted that sometimes Panhypersebastos will also hold this position, especially when leading. Pantovestiarios, the great treasurer, is in charge of government affairs and financial expenditures. He is a bit like the Zhongshu Ling in China and is the de facto prime minister. Megas doux is the Commander-in-Chief of the Navy (literally translated as Grand Duke) and the person in charge of the national fleet. His status is inferior to the above two. Protostrator, the minister of the bodyguard, is usually the deputy of the generalissimo. He will supervise the management and deployment of military affairs by the generalissimo. He is also responsible for the garrison and guards of the palace. He is usually a minister close to the emperor. Magas logothetes, deputy minister of state, foreign minister, sometimes responsible for part of the finance, usually supervision. Megas stratopedarches, regional commanders (in charge of the army), a bit like the Chinese Minister of War, sometimes led by eunuchs Megas primikerios Su Wei Chief, in charge of the emperor's imperial army. This title is sometimes used as a generic term for senior officials, the highest ranking officials above this level.

It's boring to always use reverse cheats like this. Your own personnel are either affected by the halo of intelligence or their morale is lowered, and then they are killed to the point of annihilation, which highlights the hero's wisdom and prowess. You do it once or twice because it is necessary for the plot. It is boring to do it often, and even some of your own plots cannot be justified.

East Romania is basically useless. The West and Central Asia fought by Seljuk and Mongolia are all YSL. East Romania's Silk Road trade is ruined, and it only relies on the broken mountains of the Balkans and Anatolia to have no war potential.

After the 12th century in Rome, the traditional military peasant-soldier system declined severely. The proportion of mercenaries has been getting higher and higher since the beginning of the Komnenos Dynasty, and the level of weapons and equipment has also dropped significantly. Our stereotype of the armored cavalry should have completely disappeared in the timeline of this book. Figures 1 and 2 are images of the Roman army in the mid-to-late 12th century that are closer to the timeline of this book There are also several classic misunderstandings: 1. The actual equipment level of the Eastern Roman cavalry is actually very different from the stereotype of three-layer armor rice dumpling protection (this Osprey Society popular science book is responsible for the blame, the Chinese Internet to Pictures of the Osprey Society are circulated everywhere) Figure 3 is a comparison between the stereotyped "Iron Paladins" and the real Immortal Army 2. The Varangian Guards in the 12th century were composed of a large number of Ansa people, and their equipment generally adopted Western European shapes instead of the stereotypical Eastern Roman Ross-Dacian style mix of three layers inside and three outside. (Figure 4 is a comparison between the stereotype and the real Varangian Guard, and Figure 5 is the real image of the Varangian Guard) 3. Under the Roman military district system, the uniformity of soldiers' weapons and equipment configuration was very low, and messy clothing and armor was the norm. The popularity of armor is not as high as imagined. (Picture 6 is a real image of Eastern Roman peasants and soldiers from the 10th to 11th centuries) The pictures are all transferred from the b station up owner Hel-Ulrich

After reading the first ten chapters, to be honest, I have no desire to read any more! In such an urgent situation, what is needed is the protagonist to turn the tide, not your tedious introduction and background to enhance the atmosphere. That is what to do after victory! Protagonist Protagonist Protagonist This is the center of the whole novel. Any novel with too many plots that are divorced from the protagonist will not be popular. This is a warning suggestion to the author based on the results of the novel I have seen.

Chicken farmer, chicken farmer. Lascaris, Khan of Nicaea

If the empire did not collapse, and the novel did not describe Alexios III running there, how could Adrianople be lost? The second strongest fortress in the empire, the loyal city struggled to resist the Bulgar invasion from 1205 to 1207, becoming the only large city in Thrace that was not destroyed except for the castle. What's more, Adrianople played a major role in the 1205 Thracian Revolt against the Latin Empire in history I don't quite understand how Adrianople was directly assigned to the Latin Empire. I feel that the author still needs some flexibility in the deduction, and cannot completely speculate on the current territorial situation based on the collapse of the empire.

The writing is good and the research is quite rigorous. I hope I can live until the day when I sign the book. The little Miaomiao in East Rome must support it.
