The Little Mystic Master Saved Her Family, Then Became Their Darling

Five-year-old Sui Sui lives with her mother in a dilapidated Taoist temple in the mountains. Her mother farms to raise her. Sui Sui divines that the father she has never met is about to face a great calamity, so she sneaks down the mountain to find him. Her terrible father is ruthless and taciturn, and tries to dump her as soon as they meet. If her terrible father tries to ditch her, she’ll kick him out of the house! He can come back only after he apologizes to Sui Sui! Her terrible father, Meng Yifei: “...” There’s no getting rid of this stubborn kid! And she calls me a terrible father? Doesn’t a father want a virtuous wife, obedient children, and a house full of descendants? I’m doing something that could get my head chopped off. I don’t want you all dragged into it and executed! This unfilial little brat not only refuses to understand her old father’s good intentions, she even goes out of her way to defy him! Auntie uses copper coins to ask about her marriage, and gets the worst possible omen three times in a row. Sui Sui’s chubby little hands scoop up the coins from the ground. In her babyish voice, she says, “Sui Sui will defy fate and change Auntie’s destiny!” Grandpa Meng Weian serves his country with dedication, guarding the homeland. He ends up in prison, his legs crippled, and suffers terribly in body and mind. Sui Sui and Meng Yifei uncover the truth. Sui Sui tells the heartbroken Meng Shanqian, “Fourth Uncle, don’t cry. You saved so many people and earned so much golden light. Good things will come to you.” Her cousin aunt marries a county magistrate in a small border town. Together, they work hard to encourage sericulture and farming, turning a poor county into a prosperous one. But when high-ranking officials betray the country and side with the enemy, the two of them die defending the city. The court is corrupt, treacherous officials hold power, the people suffer, and war spreads across the land. Meng Yifei seizes the moment and raises an army. Meng Yifei is short on money, people, and food, and all the money Sui Sui earns still isn’t enough to cover his expenses. Sui Sui murmurs in her babyish voice, “It’s so hard to earn money and support the family!” Meng Yifei: “...”
