Harvest Year Commune

After graduating from college in 2008, Fang Chunzhe, a young man from a rural village in Anhui, went to Shanghai with his classmates to make a living. He started out as a technician on construction sites, then entered the chip industry as an engineer, weathering hardship and growing along the way. During this time, he witnessed major events such as the four-trillion-yuan stimulus, the World Expo, and the soaring housing prices, and saw Shanghai at the height of its glory. Fang Chunzhe had never been someone eager to involve himself in worldly affairs. He valued self-cultivation and admired the teachings of Huang-Lao, but more than a decade of experience gradually freed him from his former desire to withdraw from the world, and his thinking matured. Though he worked in Shanghai year after year, he remained deeply attached to his rural hometown and never let go of his dream of transforming the countryside. Later, after being diagnosed with cancer and undergoing surgery, he thought long and hard before deciding to return to the village and build Fengnian Commune, an agricultural estate centered on pig farming. Through tireless effort, the pig business flourished, and the villagers began to see the Fang family in a new light. When the COVID-19 pandemic broke out, Fang Chunzhe's business not only escaped harm but soon began bringing in money hand over fist after restrictions were lifted, thanks to the rise of livestreaming and short videos. With strong support from the village committee and township Party committee, he then expanded Fengnian Commune's operations and worked closely with the villagers to improve its business ecosystem. This strengthened his company while helping the villagers earn a good income. Fang Chunzhe became a well-known local figure, and the media competed to report on him. Later, he was elected village Party secretary, handed Fengnian Commune over to his younger brother to manage, and devoted himself entirely to rural revitalization.
