After the Farmer’s Daughter Separated from Her Husband, the Marquis Regretted It Bitterly

The year Xie Yu came of age, she went up the mountain and rescued the scholar Xue Qishen from bandits. He sincerely asked for her hand in marriage, and Xie Yu happily became his wife. Not long after they married, Xue Qishen passed the highest imperial examinations with top honors, was made a marquis, and saw his status soar. He began to criticize her for her coarse appearance, illiteracy, and poor housekeeping. The young woman Ning Wan, who had moved into their household, had even less innocent intentions. Using her rejected marriage proposal as an excuse, she slipped into her husband’s arms. Even her own biological son criticized her at every turn and wanted Ning Wan to be his mother! Xie Yu: “You and Ning Wan are a match made in heaven. I’m leaving to make room for you two!” She left behind a divorce agreement. Before long, Xie Yu’s fortunes transformed, and she became the true daughter of the Prime Minister’s residence in the capital. Xue Qishen arrived with Xue Zhu, his expression humble and regretful. “A-Yu, I was wrong. Please come back, won’t you?” But Xie Yu had accepted the Emperor’s betrothal letter. She looked down at him coldly. “From now on, if you dare address me by name when you see me, Marquis, you’ll be getting a caning.”
