A Tea-Bound Dream: I’m Waiting for You in Pu’er

Tea’s Enchanted Dream: I’ll Wait for You in Pu’er tells the story of Shu Yao, an inheritor of the non-material cultural heritage of Yanqing boxing and a postgraduate student at Southwest Agricultural University’s School of Tea Science. Driven by her intense love and fascination with Lu Yu, the Sage of Tea, she accidentally transmigrates to the Tang Dynasty. There, she experiences Lu Yu’s legendary life firsthand, witnesses his heartbreaking romance with Li Jilan, and encounters the non-material cultural heritage of different regions. Shu Yao tries to change their fates, but is powerless to do so. During her journey through time, she comes to deeply appreciate the allure of tea culture and other forms of intangible heritage, while lamenting the unfulfilled love between Lu Yu and Li Jilan. The journey helps her complete her graduation thesis, and she graduates with excellent grades. She is offered a position at the China Tea Research Institute, but turns it down. Instead, she goes to Pu’er in Yunnan and opens a new Lu Yu Tea House, hoping to make up for the fact that Lu Yu never visited Pu’er.
