How Come the World Update Left Me Out?

Yang Yunfan, a top player in Star Realm, transmigrates into the game world. He thinks he can use his knowledge of the future to reach the top, only to discover that the game has been updated and the timeline has jumped a thousand years ahead. But his NPC interface is still the beta version, and the quests it issues are seriously “out of date.” Quest: “(Easy) Dance with a noblewoman who longs for love.” Yang Yunfan gazes at the noblewoman, now corrupted by an evil god and turned into an undead, and falls into deep thought. Quest: “(Hard) Gather your courage and teach the biggest bully in town a lesson.” Yang Yunfan kicks over the bully’s gravestone. System: “Quest complete.” Quest: “(Very Hard) Enter the imperial palace and sit on the Dragon Throne.” Yang Yunfan arrives at the ticket booth for the palace tourist attraction. “One ticket, please. Oh, does it cost extra to sit on the Dragon Throne? Ten yuan more? Fine.” When players encounter Yang Yunfan: “There’s an NPC here. Let’s pick up a quest from him. Chop wood, fish, find a missing child? This is a piece of cake!” But when the players find their quest targets, they’re all dumbfounded. The tree they’re supposed to cut down has grown for a thousand years and become a super tree king; the fish in the lake evolved into a flood dragon long ago; and the missing child is none other than the empress of the empire! The players are baffled. “Could he be a hidden big shot?”
