The Mother-in-Law Who Was Shockingly Stingy

My mother-in-law is incredibly stingy. She’d trim the red and yellow parts off used paper and keep using it. She even used the black, greasy waste oil from the range hood to cook our meals. “Being thrifty is a virtue. It brings good fortune!” she’d say. I pleaded with her to throw away all her filthy things and protect the family’s health. She praised me to my face, but behind my back, she used my son’s baby-food scissors to trim her gray toenails! My child died of a lung infection, and I was devastated. My mother-in-law pointed at me and screamed that I was a curse who’d brought disaster on her family. Even my husband blamed me. In the end, they drove a knitting needle through my throat and stabbed me to death. When I opened my eyes again, I was back on the day I discovered my mother-in-law picking up dirty paper. The first thing I did was hide all the high-quality toilet paper I’d stocked up on before my pregnancy, then pretend I knew nothing. Good fortune, you say? Fine. You’d better enjoy the good fortune your penny-pinching brings you!
