After I Left Everything Behind to Study Abroad, My Two Childhood Friends Were Consumed by Regret

Outside the office, Gu Rushuang and Qin Wan, who had promised to pick me up after I was discharged, were laughing and chatting with an intern. When they looked up and saw me, their expressions instantly turned cold. “It’s just a little cut. Did you really have to make us come get you?” I looked down at the bandage around my waist, still seeping blood, and gave a bitter smile. Gu Rushuang and Qin Wan had been my childhood friends. We went to school together, worked together, and had known one another for over twenty years. Yet that meant less than the two short months they’d known Feng Xueting. Before, they would fret even if I got a hangnail. Now they hovered around Feng Xueting and could barely be bothered to look at me. Watching them laugh ever more happily, I finally gave up. I turned and walked away, then made a call. “All right, President Meng. Once I’ve finished the resignation paperwork, I can go abroad next month.”
