My Life Was on the Line, but My Wife Stopped the Firefighters from Saving Me

A lightning strike brought down the pavilion, and my wife threatened to kill herself to stop the firefighters from rescuing me. Stones nearly buried my entire body, while all that trapped the man she loved was a crushed ankle. She blocked the firefighters, holding a sharp shard to her neck as she shouted, “He’s a musical theater actor! If you injure his foot and ruin his career, can you afford to pay for that?” I summoned the last of my strength and cried out, “Honey, I’m in so much pain. The rocks are crushing me. I can barely breathe.” But she only cursed furiously. “Stop being so dramatic! His bones are almost crushed, and he hasn’t made a sound.” With no other choice, the firefighters had to rescue the man she loved first. My heart went cold as I watched my wife anxiously escort him into the ambulance. Later, even when our son was already two years old, she was still telling everyone in their circle how much I’d loved her back then.
