On Our Wedding Day, My Fiancée Went Public with Her Affair with Her Secretary

He Yuqing and I had been together for six years, and we’d never planned to get married. That changed when my mother was nearing the end of her life. Her one wish was to see me bring He Yuqing home as my wife. But on the day of the wedding, He Yuqing never showed up. Seeing me standing alone onstage, my mother became so agitated that she suffered a heart attack. I struggled to call He Yuqing, but all I ever got was the cold, mechanical voice of the automated message. In the end, my mother died with her wish unfulfilled. As I was arranging her funeral in the depths of grief, I saw a post on her assistant Xu Zhijie’s Moments feed: “May we look back on these years with fondness, and share a deep love until our hair turns white.” The photo showed He Yuqing with her arm around his shoulder, lifting her head to kiss him. My heart turned to ash. I sent her a message at once. “He Yuqing, we’re over for good.”
