A Flawless Guide to the Eighty-One Trials

All living beings are foolish. I now possess three collections of true scriptures: one on the Dharma, which speaks of Heaven; one on treatises, which speaks of Earth; and one on sutras, which delivers ghosts. The World-Honored One has vanished, the Celestial Venerable lies in the dust, the Bodhisattvas hang upside down, and the Vajras stand firm. The mouse that blows the wind calls itself Amitabha; the tiger that guards the mountain reveres Daoxuan. The lost green lion runs the kingdom, while the white elephant carrying people waves a fan. All the gods seek immortality, and every great demon wants to become a god. Yet none sees that skulls have become roads, bones have grown into forests, and cats and mice are one family, debating who is the greatest hero.
