Spring Awakens at Dawn

Ruan Yuwei has a secret: every night, she turns into all sorts of strange things. Today, she was the brush in Lord Zhang's house. Now she knows Lord Zhang has a bizarre fetish! Tomorrow, she was a mirror in the princess's residence. Now she knows the princess and her consort only seem harmonious on the surface. The day after, she was a vase in Prince Qin's residence. Now she knows Prince Qin has no heirs not because his princess consort is infertile, but because he can't perform! She knows all the secrets in the capital. Watching the powerful and wealthy behave with impeccable propriety, she can only pretend she knows nothing. Until one day, she turned into a kettle in the home of Lord Lu, an official of the Court of Judicial Review. Lord Lu left the kettle outside, and she spent the whole night freezing. She turned into a paperweight in Lord Lu's home. Lord Lu used her to prop up a table leg, and her back hurt for three days. She turned into a hanging scroll in Lord Lu's home. At last, she was hanging high on the wall. Surely now she could hear some secrets. But Lord Lu had someone take the scroll down and toss it into storage. She spent the whole night eating dust. Ruan Yuwei strongly suspects Lord Lu knows her secret! Lu Rang has lately felt like someone is watching him, especially at night. Could the cases he's handled recently have earned him some enemies? Then, at the temple fair, he spotted a familiar figure beneath a pear tree. The feeling seemed strangely familiar. Ruan Yuwei endured the dull ache in her back, gave a cold snort, and turned to leave. Lu Rang: “???”
