The Day Before the IPO, My Boss Laid Me Off

The day before the company went public, the boss announced a round of personnel changes. A newcomer who seemed to appear out of nowhere became vice president, while I, who’d worked like a dog for the company for years, got laid off. Fine, if there’s no place for me here, there’s always somewhere else. I promptly invested in our competitor with my technical expertise and became a partner in several companies. Who cares if they want to put up with this crap? I’m done with it!
