Our Daughter Died, but My Wife Was Taking Care of Her Ex

My wife’s first love, who had been lying in bed for seven years, finally woke up. That was when I realized I’d always been a stand-in. When our daughter was hospitalized with pneumonia, my wife stayed by her first love’s side without budging. He was only two floors away from our daughter, yet she never once went to see her. Later, she said she missed our daughter and wanted to visit her. I held out our daughter’s memorial portrait and said, “She’s right here. Take a look.” She dropped to her knees and begged me to tell her where our daughter was buried. “I’ll never tell you. This is your punishment for not coming to see her one last time!”
