World Ascension: Where Did the Chosen One Go?

In a low-martial parallel world, an influx of mysterious spiritual energy gave rise to several Grandmasters by attaching itself to human bodies. The world advanced to the middle-martial level, beginning its path of ascension and giving birth to the Heavenly Dao. By the final years of the Northern Wei, an otherworldly soul possessed Gao Huan. In just a few years, his martial prowess soared until he was invincible, and he swiftly unified the realm. The world rebelled against him, the Gao clan died out, the land was shattered, and martial artists dwindled. The world was on the brink of declining to a lower level. The Heavenly Dao sent chosen ones blessed by destiny down several times to save itself, but after dynasty after dynasty, none succeeded. So it followed the trail of the otherworldly visitor and took the initiative to bring in someone who could help it ascend. Fu Jinghong, a middle-aged office drone with no ambitions or desires, returned from a world of benefits with his beloved wife and beautiful companions. Taking on the identity of a Jinyiwei, he solves strange cases, wipes out petty villains, and gets caught up in major events in both the court and the martial world. Thus begins his utterly uneventful career as a loyal hound, searching for and protecting those chosen by fate. Fu Jinghong: First, let’s eat the candy coating. But you promised I’d become a dashing young hero of the martial world. Why is this starter pack full of techniques like Five Tiger Severing Blade and Thirteen Iron Guards? What’s with this feeling that I’m destined to be a bit-part character? Good-for-nothing Heavenly Dao, you don’t even know where the chosen ones are. How am I supposed to protect them? Clock in and work hard to finish my assignments? I’d rather enjoy life. Slacking off is the destiny of every wage slave!
