The Great God Jiang's Dreamspace

Memories and the one who remembers are two different things.

What is owned and its owner are also two different things.

“I have a body” and “I am this body” are two different things.

A person's consciousness, or self-awareness, and the memories they possess are two different things.

A person can lose their memories without losing consciousness at the same time.

People generally assume that the one who remembers is the memory itself, and that both are the brain. But that may not be true. Perhaps if something goes wrong with the rememberer's brain, their memories will disappear. But the fact that the rememberer has a brain, whether healthy or not, does not mean the rememberer is the brain. If the brain is damaged and memories are lost, does that necessarily have anything to do with the rememberer? How can we tell that the rememberer and the memories they hold have both suffered some kind of damage? Is losing painful memories really a bad thing?

Besides, even a perfectly healthy brain is useless without the energy supplied by the heart's blood.

If you feel uneasy about not knowing what the so-called rememberer really is, I suggest you think of it as a form of energy.

Energy is conserved; it is neither created nor destroyed. But energy must have a carrier, such as the heart's blood. Pure energy does not exist in this world, and no one can extract it. When the body dies, this energy transfers to another carrier we know nothing about. If the memories remain, perhaps we can call it a ghost or a soul. If the memories are lost, entering another carrier might be equivalent to reincarnation.
