Your Majesty, Don't Disturb Her: The Empress Only Wants to Build Her Career

After staying up all night reading, Yao Jinse dies and transmigrates into the novel she was reading, becoming Yao Jieyu, a scheming cannon-fodder concubine in a palace harem drama. She gets to enjoy a good life with a daughter but no man. When she realizes she’s doomed to be written out halfway through the story, Yao Jinse immediately refuses three times over. Fortunately, knowing the plot gives her some advantages. Surrounded by all manner of monsters and demons, Yao Jinse slowly charts a future in which she can stay alive a little longer. The Noble Consort tells me to handle something: I’ll agree to her face and do the opposite. The Empress hints that I should make a move: I’ll go easy at the crucial moment. The Emperor wants to use me as a blade: I’m open to that, but surely I deserve a consort’s rank in return? Nothing at all? Fine, Your Majesty. This foolish concubine is afraid she won’t do a good job. I’m the very soul of knowing my place! And so, with Yao Jinse around, the harem takes a decidedly strange turn. Fake palace intrigue: Competing to see who can kill the most people. Real palace intrigue: Competing to see who can stay alive the longest. The idle Yao Jinse only smiles and says nothing whenever major upheavals occur, or when everyone gathers to gossip. She keeps her contributions hidden and her name out of it. [Content Warnings] 1.
