I don't understand a bit. The protagonist wants to destroy the military empire, and later builds an empire through the resurrection of corpses. He still has feelings for a father who has no connection other than blood ties. So how to go about it after that, he has to be firm but not firm enough, soft but not soft enough, and smart enough but not smart enough. It's very uncomfortable to be neither up nor down.
