Hereditary Eulogy

We didn't know it at that time, but some nights would never end. They were just folded into the interlayer of time, becoming all the possibilities of tomorrow. Ten years ago, someone lied to the firelight. Ten years later, we witnessed the crystallization of lies in the mirror. Those things that were mistakenly thought to be forgotten were actually growing at a slower rate—— They say that memory is like the tide, but they forget that what we inherit is the lungs of a drowning person. We collect the silences scattered by our parents, like picking up unexploded bombs, until one morning we find that our fingerprints begin to carbonize from the edges.
