Director: I Started by Making Knockoff Schlock

Sui Gong gets a Film Fund System that provides production funds, complete scripts, and nanny-level filming tutorials to help the Host make classic films from Blue Star.

For his first film, Charlotte's Troubles, Sui Gong works diligently to recreate the original perfectly, easily raking in 1.4 billion at the box office.

But when it comes time to collect his share of the box-office revenue, Sui Gong is stunned: the System only pays him 200,000 as a hired-gun director.

Fortunately, he discovers a loophole: the System calculates its production funds precisely, and whatever is left over after the money is issued belongs to the Host.

Whether he makes a good film or a bad one, he’s just collecting a fixed salary, so he doesn’t care about the box office.

A bold idea takes shape: why not start by lowering costs and skimming the production budget...
