I Have a Hearing Problem

A reborn emperor with a hopeless romantic streak vs. a palace maid stuck in a loop whenever she leaves the palace

Word spread through the capital that the emperor had suddenly developed an ear ailment and could no longer hear a thing.

The court officials read the situation and hurried to find themselves a way out.

But the emperor, whom everyone said had become moody and unpredictable because of his illness, was lying on a bed of purple sandalwood while a gentle, refined woman fed him peeled grapes.

The emperor looked utterly content, savoring every moment.

The next instant, the woman impassively handed him a bowl of medicine. “Your Majesty, it’s time for your medicine. I added some fine noctilucent sand to treat your ear ailment.”

The emperor asked in surprise, “What is noctilucent sand?”

A strange smile played at the woman’s lips. “Bat droppings.”

The emperor: “…”

That’s what you get for bringing it on yourself.

A ruthless emperor pretends to be deaf and clueless just to keep the woman he loves by his side, no matter the cost or the consequences.

He gets a nosebleed from tonic soup, has to bathe three times in one day after being fumigated with warming earthworms, and can’t get rid of the strange smell lingering at the tip of his nose.

Pinching his nose, the emperor drinks the medicinal soup she made for him, suffering and loving every minute of it.
