Restart: Lu Mingfei at Seventeen

May 15, 2014. Spring.

The Twilight of the Gods: an inescapable fate, the end of everything.

In the final battle between the mixed-bloods and the dragons, Lu Mingfei stood on an endless plain, surrounded by familiar faces: Chu Zihang, Zero, Angers... They were all dead. The sky shattered like fragments, as if the world were ending.

Lu Mingfei often wondered: If he'd tried harder beneath the Three Gorges Dam and at the subway station, maybe Old Tang and the Little Dragon Girl wouldn't have died. If he'd been braver in that underground wine cellar in Tokyo, maybe Erii wouldn't have fallen into an eternal sleep beneath the Red Well. If he'd made up his mind sooner, perhaps he could have changed the outcome...

But there were no what-ifs. Even though he was now the greatest monster of all, what had passed was gone for good, and there was nothing he could do...

“Big brother, I can give you one more chance. I can send you back to when you were seventeen.” The boy in the black suit whispered in his ear, like the devil murmuring a temptation.
