In the forty-third year of Wanli, a man of unknown origin named Zhang Cha, armed with a wooden stick, went straight to Ciqing Palace where Prince Zhu Changluo (Ming Guangzong) lived without any obstruction. He intended to assassinate the prince, but was subdued by eunuchs and sent to prison. After a joint trial by the three departments, such a major case was dropped. The stile attack case became a major mystery in the late Ming Dynasty.
