As I was growing up, there was a time when I felt very afraid. I had a vague sense that the world was gradually coming into focus while I myself was beginning to change. I remember the floor-to-ceiling window in my father's study. Sunlight filtered through the green potted plants and fell across the rocking chair. I would sit there reading until my eyes often began to ache. I was very lonely. I felt that books were my only friends. Many years later, when I look back, I still regret that my parents weren't there for me then, but I am also deeply grateful for what I went through. That time made me strong. So this book is for all the lonely girls out there. I hope you will be strong and brave enough to face growing up. When the sunlight falls upon you, you will find happiness.
