This is a beautiful love story, as well as a magnificent, soaring anthem to the heroes of the Western Han dynasty. During the reign of Emperor Wu of Han, a girl raised among wolves is rescued by a Han Chinese man living among the Xiongnu. He names her Yu Jin and teaches her the poetry, history, and strategies of the Han people. Unexpectedly, a coup erupts among the Xiongnu, and Yu Jin eventually flees to Chang'an, changing her name to Jin Yu. Along the way, she meets the young Huo Qubing and the scholarly merchant Meng Jiu. Deeply versed in strategy, Jin Yu soon establishes herself in Chang'an, only to fall hopelessly in love with Meng Jiu before she realizes it, and to become entangled in an inscrutable political maelstrom. Meng Jiu's repeated rejections and Huo Qubing's devoted protection leave even the clever Jin Yu torn between them. In the end, whose heart will be broken by her choice?
