I Keep Cracking Strange Cases While Devoted to the Dao

Do the demons depicted in the murals of an ancient temple transform and kill people?

Do prisoners escape from jail using a rope that reaches the heavens?

Does a fox demon take human form on the street and prey on talented scholars...?

Strange cases are piling up in Chang'an, and danger lurks around every corner.

Wang Lü, a disciple of the Xuanhuang Sect, descends the mountain to help his elder brother solve one baffling case after another.

Without realizing it, he becomes entangled in a shocking conspiracy woven from martial world rivalries, power struggles, and conflicts between Buddhism and Daoism.

He cracks Chang'an's strange cases, quells turmoil in the martial world, and makes a name for himself amid the battles between Buddhism and Daoism...

I only came down the mountain to lend a hand. How did this turn into an endless mess?
